Tired, Worn Out! Just Can’t Regain Your Lost Energy?
You’ve already been to several doctors, had blood-work, tried different diets, took the latest energy drinks and vitamins, but nothing seems to help and no one knows what’s wrong. Has anyone even mentioned your adrenal glands? Mostly, what I hear is, “MY WHAT?”
The adrenal glands are about the size of a walnut and sit on top of your kidneys. Their affect on your health and body function is so profound and far reaching that they not only significantly affect the function of every tissue, organ and gland in your body they also have important effects on the way you think and feel. “The forces that these two little glands produce, largely determine the energy of your responses to every change in your internal and external environment. Whether they signal attack, retreat or surrender, every cell responds accordingly, and you feel the results.”
The #1 function of your adrenal glands is to produce a variety of hormones (mainly cortisol) that help your body handle all types of stress. Their job is to enable your body to deal with the many different stressors in our lives, ranging from trauma, illness, surgery, financial or relationship problems, disease, work and so on. Your resiliency, energy, endurance and your very life all depend on their proper functioning. Other functions of your adrenal glands are; to mobilize the fight or flight response, control fluid balance and blood sugar (especially between meals), immune system response and strength, inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses to injury or bacteria/viral invasion.
The adrenal glands produce steroid (sex)hormones which:
determine overall strength, energy and stamina.
provide a sense of well being & maintain healthy mood and emotion
are the backup system for your sex hormones, making them vital for everything
include anti-aging hormones such as DHEA
when at optimal levels, provide protection from all forms of disease
When in a constant state of stress, emotional or physical, the adrenals will continually produce and pump out high cortisol levels into our bloodstream creating a dangerous imbalance to your blood sugar and insulin levels and will eventually create a condition of insulin resistance (and adrenal fatigue) which can, and usually does if left alone, lead to Type II Diabetes.
Belly fat is a very visual indicator of insulin resistance and is often your bodies first warning signal to you. Listen to the changes in your body, they are there to get your attention so that you can take the necessary steps to stop the progression of disease.
The first step to healing the adrenal glands is to lay the foundation by eating a lower carb mediterranean type diet and stress modification. Saliva testing will tell you how your adrenal glands are dealing with your life-style and your dietary foundation. Knowing the cortisol levels and how to re-regulate the system is vital to overall health.
We are here for you when you are ready to take the first step toward optimal health and healing!
