Testosterone is an anabolic (building) steroid hormone produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands and is made from DHEA & progesterone.
In women, testosterone maintains libido (sex drive), stamina, overall energy, sense of well being & mood. Testosterone promotes muscle development & tone, bone formation & strength, improves balance, physical endurance, hand to eye coordination. It decreases insulin resistance, blood pressure, body fat, cholesterol and protects against breast cancer and against the negative effects of excess cortisol during times of excessive stress.
